Biography
Canadian producer David Psutka crafts genre-defying electronic music by fusing tech-house, garage, electro, and other chosen styles under the Egyptrixx name. From his Toronto base he debuted the project in 2008 through the ghetto-tech and bass-oriented album It's Always Places Like This, which included a guest appearance by legendary Dance Mania producer DJ Slugo. The 2010 EP Battle for North America, issued on Aaahh! Real Monsters, delivered deep bass that appealed to dubstep listeners, while the Chrysalis Records EP surfaced the same year on RCRD LBL with vocals from Trust (Robert Alfons) and a more indie electronic focus. Night Slugs released the techno- and electro-driven album Bible Eyes in 2011. In 2012 Psutka teamed with former Thrush Hermit member Ian McGettigan for the Hiawatha project and its Language album. He resumed Egyptrixx duties in 2013 via the single "Water" and the album A/B Til Infinity. The 2015 Egyptrixx album Transfer of Energy (Feelings of Power) launched Psutka's own Halocline Trance label. After issuing a more experimental album as Ceramic TL in 2016, the fourth Egyptrixx full-length, Pure, Beyond Reproach, arrived in early 2017.
