Biography
In the opening years of the 2000s, ensembles devoted to traditional rock encountered steep obstacles competing against the global reach of televised talent contests that created pop idols. Empty Trash from Germany located an unexpected avenue that secured rapid notice while supplying a stage from which to challenge that pop machinery. Frontman Max Buskohl had entered the German edition of Pop Idol, Deutschland Sucht den Superstar. After advancing substantially through the season, he withdrew to devote his efforts to the band rather than continue alone under the spotlight. The group had already spent considerable time shaping its classic rock approach. The resulting image of defiant rockers drew a welcoming response from listeners once the band issued its first album, Confession, in 2007.
