Biography
Ryan Rapsys, a member of Heroic Doses, launched the solo endeavor Euphone in 1994 to explore an improvisational blend of progressive jazz and rock. Performing live using only a drum kit, sequencer, and keyboard, he issued the debut record Euphone during 1997. His former Heroic Doses colleague Nick Macri subsequently became part of the project, transforming Euphone into a duo. Together they put out The Calendar of Unlucky Days in 1999. The group's style echoes that of additional Casey Rice-produced acts from Chicago, including Tortoise and the Sea and Cake. Their second album, Hashin' It Out, came out in the fall of 2000.
