Eve to Adam traces its unconventional origins to 1997, when Taki Sassaris first devised both the band’s name and its guiding concept. He brought his brother Alex into the fold and set the project in motion. The siblings soon aligned with songwriter Desmond Child, joining his company in 1998. Child intended to shape the act into pop performers delivering his own songs, yet this approach conflicted with Taki Sassaris’s outlook. By the close of that year the brothers had relocated to New York, where they reassembled the group, added new members, and began writing original material while performing live throughout 1999. An unforeseen opening arrived when the band landed a place on the Maximum Rock tour without any album in hand, filling their summer. Momentum then collapsed as they lost their founding bassist, their management, and the arrangement with Child. Rebuilding defined 2000, the year bassist AJ Pappas joined the existing core of the Sassaris brothers and Gaurav Bali. Further strain emerged after signing with Mystic Music, a Warner Bros. division, when financing shortfalls interrupted work on their debut album. Alternative funding eventually surfaced, permitting completion of the recordings that became Auburn Slip, released in 2001. The five-track EP Antidote followed in 2003, and the major-label debut Queens to Eden appeared in 2007. Banquet for a Starving Dog arrived in 2011, succeeded by the fourth studio album, Locked & Loaded, in 2013.
