Biography
Hailing from Brooklyn, the indie rock group Fang Island produces anthems that are both hymn-like and extraordinarily intense, merging the buoyant and approachable hard rock tunes reminiscent of Andrew W.K. with Surfer Blood's independent recording approach and the unconventional, technology-infused progressive metal sound associated with acts such as Protest the Hero and Sparta. While studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, the musicians established the band in Providence initially as an artistic endeavor; its lineup includes guitarist Jason Bartell, bassist Michael Jacober, guitarist Chris Georges, guitarist Nicholas Andrew Sadler, and drummer Marc St. Sauveur. In early 2010, they issued their self-titled first album via the Sargent House imprint, followed by the 2012 release of their sophomore effort, Major.
