Biography
A supergroup known as Fistful of Mercy unites Ben Harper, Dhani Harrison, and Joseph Arthur, who deliver three-part harmonies within a relaxed, folksy sound. The musicians assembled at Carriage House studio in L.A., convening there in February 2010 for three inspired days devoted to writing and recording. Drawing from the Travelin’ Wilburys’ collaborative model, in which Dhani’s father George Harrison participated, the trio maintained a brisk pace by dividing vocal duties and playing most instruments themselves, later recruiting session drummer Jim Keltner for percussion overdubs. The acoustic album As I Call You Down stood finished three days after the sessions began, and the band issued it later that year on George Harrison’s Hot Records label.
