A vocalist and composer whose sound bridges modern folk traditions with electronic pop textures, Fleurie crafts immersive sonic environments that frame her introspective, emotionally direct songwriting. Born Lauren Strahm in 1990 and raised in Canton, Michigan, just outside Detroit, she studied piano during childhood and performed vocals alongside family members during church services. At age eleven she composed her debut piece, and by seventeen she had begun sharing her material in live settings. In 2009 she issued her debut full-length under her birth name, the Christian-focused collection titled Fly. After periods spent refining her approach in Sydney, Australia, she relocated permanently to Nashville, Tennessee. Taking the stage name Fleurie—the French term for a blooming flower—she secured film-and-television composition assignments while continuing to develop more intimate work independently. In 2013 she recorded her inaugural Fleurie EP, the seven-track Fear & Fable, at a friend’s home studio. Her follow-up EP Arrows, containing five songs, explored electronic textures more extensively and adopted a richer production approach. The 2016 EP Love and War was characterized by its creator as a “cinematic album.” That year she also supported Christian hip-hop artist NF on tour. August 2017 brought the release of the atmospheric, dynamic single “Hurricane.”
