Flyana Boss merge relaxed rapport with inventive rhymes and a defiant female outlook. Their 2023 track “You Wish,” brimming like most of their material with sharp pop-culture allusions and explicit boasts atop driving electronic production, spread rapidly across TikTok. The duo followed with multiple EPs, among them the 2024 set This Ain’t the Album, plus singles such as “Hot Butter Summertime.”

Detroit-born Bobbi Lanea and Dallas-raised Folayan Kunerede first crossed paths as students at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. They formed an immediate bond yet spent several years developing music separately before uniting as Flyana Boss, a playful nod to Diana Ross. Two years after those earliest sessions, their label Vnclm_ finalized a joint-venture deal with Atlantic Records in 2021.

By 2023 the pair increased their release pace, gathering new singles into the EPs Boffum and Vitamin FB. Their third project that year, Make It a Double, lifted their profile with the high-octane cuts “Trashboi” and “You Wish.” Promotion for the latter featured TikTok clips of the two lip-syncing while sprinting through stores and restaurants, along the Santa Monica Pier, across the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and even inside Disneyland. The videos prompted widespread imitations and pushed the duo past one million followers on the platform.

Capitalizing on that momentum, they released a Missy Elliott remix of “You Wish,” issued further singles including “Bitch Imma Star,” “Big One,” and “UFHO,” and made their live debut opening for Janelle Monáe before headlining their own shows in 2024. That same year they delivered their fourth EP, This Ain’t the Album, along with the singles “Spend It” and “Hot Butter Summertime.”
