Biography
Forgetters came together in 2009 once Blake Schwarzenbach’s brief project the Thorns of Life ended after only twelve months. The lineup paired Schwarzenbach, previously of Jawbreaker and Jets to Brazil, with Kevin Mahon of Against Me and Michelle Proffit, who stepped in for the band’s first bassist, Caroline Paquita. Working firmly inside the established post-hardcore style, the group allowed Schwarzenbach to circle back to the tension-and-melody approach he had helped shape in his earlier, widely influential bands while evoking the same ’90s sound. Their first release arrived in 2010 as a self-titled EP issued on the band’s own Too Small to Fail imprint. Two years later the label followed with a self-titled full-length album recorded under the guidance of post-hardcore veteran J. Robbins.
