Biography
Toronto hardcore outfit Grade originally featured frontman Kyle Bishop alongside guitarists Greg Taylor and Shawn Magill, bassist Matt Jones, and Chris Danner. After releasing their first EP, Separate the Magnets, in 1998, the band gained attention by supporting acts such as Fugazi, Jimmy Eat World, and the Promise Ring. Following their signing with Victory Records, Grade put out the single "Triumph and Tragedy" in 1999 and later that same year delivered the album Under the Radar. Fall 2000 brought both the appearance of Embarrassing Past and a change in personnel, with Charles Moniz on drums and Brad Casarin on guitar stepping in for Danner and Taylor ahead of the group’s second full-length, 2001’s Headfirst Straight to Hell.
