Frankie Bones stood out as the leading DJ and influencer within New York’s independent techno community throughout the 1980s and 1990s, thanks to his extensive club tours across the country and his busy pace of releasing mix albums, nearing three annually. Following half a decade performing as a DJ, he ventured into production in 1987 alongside Tommy Musto under the duo name Musto & Bones. Their exceptional remixes and recordings for Nu Groove Records positioned the label as a hub for many of New York’s top current tracks. The duo put out The Future Is Ours on RCA in 1990, where the track "All I Want to Do Is Get Away" achieved major success in clubs. After parting ways with Musto shortly following the album, Bones leveraged his achievements to access global DJ opportunities in the early 1990s. Remixes he created for 808 State and additional artists earned him recognition as a leading pioneer in house music. Nearly twelve CDs emerged from his efforts in the mid-to-late 1990s, encompassing several editions from the Factory and Computer Controlled mix series plus his productions on the 1998 house overview Technolo-G. One year afterward, the New York native issued numerous EPs and singles. Departing from his own Sonic Groove label toward a more mainstream direction, he put forth the mix CD You Know My Name via Moonshine in November 2000. Several additional mix albums and a few production-focused endeavors appeared in subsequent years. Mixes for System, Instinct, and 611 also came from him. His sibling Adam X maintains prominence as a DJ and producer as well.
