Biography
Funeral Suits, an Irish alt-pop outfit whose moniker draws from Arcade Fire's debut release, came together in 2008. After issuing several early singles, the group connected with noted Brit-pop producer Stephen Street. With his guidance the musicians launched sessions for their first album, gaining initial exposure in 2011 through the vividly hued single "Colour Fade." Their debut full-length, Lily of the Valley, which fused electronics with lively guitar-driven pop, surfaced the following year on Dublin-based indie label Ruby Works. Years of live performances across Europe and the United States ensued while the band inched toward new material. They tracked songs in Germany with producer Jochen Schmalbach, yielding the EP Tree of Life in April 2016 and the follow-up album Islands Apart that November. Before the latter appeared, Funeral Suits stated it would mark their final release and disclosed plans to disband soon after.
