George Morel emerged as a key vocalist in the New York garage and house community that flourished during the early 1990s around the Strictly Rhythm label and its Puerto Rican heritage. Employed by the imprint, he also generated multiple standout productions for it. A native of New York, he launched the Morel's Grooves EP series in 1992 and sustained the project across following years, with every 12-inch highlighting his Latin house approach while earning widespread popularity and influence. Further singles appeared afterward, most of them gathered on the 1996 retrospective collection The Best of Morel's Grooves. Departing from Strictly Rhythm in later years, he delivered another major club favorite with “True (The Faggot Is You),” issued on Yoshitoshi—the label run by Deep Dish—and embraced by the well-known DJ pair. By the early 2000s he had developed closer ties to Deep Dish, assisting with engineering duties on their Global Underground: Moscow album and appearing across many of the duo’s mix releases.
