Positioned as successors to Girls Aloud, the Saturdays, and Bananarama, Girls Can't Catch became the fourth all-female group to join Polydor’s Fascination imprint. Established in 2009, the trio included Phoebe Brown, former lead vocalist for the 2007 X Factor runners-up known as Hope; Jess Strickley, winner of the Motorokstar contest that led to recording sessions alongside Jay-Z’s producer F.R.E.A.K.; and Daizy Agnew, the original performer of Jade Ewan’s Eurovision song “It’s My Time.” Originally extended to the Saturdays as a potential moniker, the band issued their debut track “Keep Your Head Up,” which charted at number 26, following support slots on Girls Aloud’s 32-date arena outing. In collaboration with songwriters such as Pixie Lott, Shaznay Lewis, and Karen Poole for their first album, they achieved a number 19 peak with their follow-up release “Echo.” The outfit nevertheless called it quits in July 2010, merely one day subsequent to their dismissal from the record company.
