Biography
Comprising Karis Anderson, Alexandra Buggs, and Courtney Rumbold, Stooshe is a female trio whose carefree, pop-infused, and occasionally profane style fuses rap with R&B in a manner that recalls a youthful blend of Solange, Electrik Red, and Nicki Minaj. Jo Perry, acting as both manager and songwriter, formed the act in January 2011 after conducting auditions over several months. By the close of that year the trio had put out the tracks "Fuck Me" and "Betty Woz Gone," secured a deal with Warner Music UK, and earned a nomination for the BBC's Sound of 2012 prize, which ultimately went to Michael Kiwanuka. Early in 2012 a reworked edition of "Fuck Me," retitled "Love Me" and including a guest turn from Travie McCoy, appeared as the group's initial official single and paved the way for the arrival of London with the Lights On, their first full-length album.
