Biography
Rev. James Cleveland founded the Gospel Music Workshop of America in 1967, creating an annual event that gathers gospel music enthusiasts hailing from America, the United Kingdom, Africa, and the Caribbean and representing denominations as varied as Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, Catholic, and Mormon. The organization, whose membership reaches into the hundreds of thousands, has released dozens of albums through Savoy, Intersound, Benson, and A&M, showcasing both full-convention mass choirs and additional specialized ensembles.
