Biography
Operating from the Seattle, Washington region, the seven-piece vocal ensemble Groove for Thought specializes in a cappella jazz and pop arrangements. Since its establishment in 2000, the group has showcased the abilities of singers Amanda Taylor, Stephanie Collins, Andrea Siedlecki, James Niles, Kelly Kunz, Brennan Baglio, and Jeff Horenstein. Drawing upon each performer’s substantial background in vocal instruction and stage work, these skills shape the repertoire performed by the ensemble. Their initial release, a self-titled album, came out in 2006. Groove for Thought gained visibility in 2010 through participation in the NBC singing contest The Sing-Off, advancing as far as the third round prior to elimination by viewer vote. The year 2012 saw the issuance of their follow-up record, Inspired, containing interpretations of pop tracks spanning the 1960s through the 1990s.
