Biography
During the 1980s and early 1990s, Gucci Crew ranked among Miami's most productive and influential booty-bass acts, ultimately putting out five studio albums along with a single compilation, each of the LPs appearing via the ensemble's independent imprint. The outfit launched its discography via a 1983 self-titled effort before issuing G4 in 1985, What Time Is It (It's Gucci Time) in 1989, and a pair of 1991 releases titled So Def, So Fresh, So Stupid and Everybody Wants Some. Beginning with the follow-up project, the act adopted the official designation Gucci Crew II. Over time the musicians upheld Miami's tradition of thunderous 808 beats and celebratory motifs, though they stopped short of matching the explicitness or versatility displayed by 2 Live Crew.
