In the period preceding their work on the 69 Boyz track "Tootsee Roll" and the Quad City DJ's number "C'Mon N' Ride It (The Train)," C.C. Lemonhead and Jayski McGowan achieved comparable commercial impact through their involvement with 95 South on the 1993 release "Whoot, There It Is." This recording marked the initial bass track to achieve widespread mainstream appeal, though Tag Team's "Whoop! (There It Is)" quickly surpassed it in popularity the following month. Around the time the single climbed to the seventh position on the R&B chart during April and May of 1993, the album Quad City Knock entered the upper reaches of Billboard's Top 20 R&B listing. After this breakthrough, the production duo separated from 95 South, going on to greater accomplishments with the 69 Boyz in 1994 and Quad City DJ's in 1996. The other artists in 95 South struggled to maintain momentum afterward, as efforts such as the album One Mo' Gen received little notice and only tracks like "Rodeo" attracted occasional interest. Ultimately, 95 South remains primarily associated with "Whoot, There It Is" and recognized as the starting point for the careers of Lemonhead and McGowan.
