Biography
Hardknox, a British big-beat duo, came together in 1996 through the alliance of DJs Steve P. (a.k.a. Skycutter and Immortal Minds) and Lindy Layton (formerly of Beats International). Their debut single, "Coz I Can," appeared that year on the Skint Label, also home to Fatboy Slim, and earned NME Single of the Week status, an honor the magazine repeated for the group’s follow-up, the Psychopath EP. Their hard-hitting, dancefloor-friendly style turned the pair into sought-after remixers who reworked tracks for acts as varied as Orgy, the Crystal Method, and Faith No More. Hardknox showed up on 1998 compilations including The Big Beat Conspiracy, Vol. 1 and Monster Breaks: A Collection of Big Beat Finery. The next year the duo performed at Woodstock '99 and issued their first full-length release, Come in Hard.
