Biography
Brazilian singer/guitarist Herbert Vianna teamed with bassist Bi Ribeiro and drummer Vital Dias—who was later succeeded by Joâo Barone—to launch the rock band Os Paralamas Do Sucesso, known also as Paralamas, in 1982. The reggae/ska-inflected outfit rapidly emerged as a leading local seller. Vianna initiated his solo path in 1992 through the album E Batumare, continued with 1997’s Santorini Blues cut in Los Angeles, CA, and followed that with 2000’s O Som Do Sim, which incorporated work from Cássia Eller, Sandra de Sá and Marcos Valle. He additionally produced releases by the Brazilian punk ensemble Plebe Rude.
September 2002 brought his album El Largo Camino, which signaled a return to the Brazilian pop arena.
