U.K. rapper HEX merges hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, and rock into a single hybrid style. His atmospheric tracks, steeped in themes of emotional loss and after-hours scenes and exemplified by the 2018 release “Canadian Drip,” have drawn comparisons to a British counterpart of Post Malone.

HEX entered the world in Nottingham in 1997. As an adolescent he first produced instrumentals, only later layering his own voice over them. Drawing from American rap and R&B alongside Afrobeats, he shaped a signature approach defined by tuneful, emotionally charged delivery and confessional writing rooted in lived feeling. Music began appearing under his name in 2017, with tracks such as “Limitless” and “Gene Kelly” gaining notice online, chiefly on the strength of their visually expansive videos. Additional singles arrived in 2018—“Stunna” and “Canadian Drip”—before “Inferno,” “Too Bad,” and “Blow” followed in 2019.
