Biography
Hillary Scott first entered the world in Nashville, where she grew up surrounded by music before becoming widely recognized as one third of the Grammy-winning country group Lady A.
As the child of established country performers Linda Davis and Lang Scott, she launched her individual path shortly after finishing high school by collaborating with singer and songwriter Victoria Shaw while seeking a recording contract of her own. The pivotal introduction to Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood occurred in 2006, prompting the trio to initiate a songwriting collaboration that quickly resulted in the creation of Lady A before the year ended. Following early performances in neighborhood venues, the ensemble signed with Capitol Records in 2007, after which their distinctive blend of country, rock, and R&B propelled them toward global recognition over the ensuing years. Between 2010 and 2014 the act placed three albums at the summit of both the country and pop rankings.
Toward the end of 2015 Lady A paused its activities, prompting Scott to declare plans for a family-centered gospel project rooted in her faith. Enlisting country and bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs to produce, she assembled her parents along with younger sister Rylee to lay down the spiritual material she described as deeply personal. Issued in July 2016 under the name Hillary Scott & the Scott Family, the resulting album Love Remains entered the marketplace at number one on Billboard’s Christian Albums chart and number two on the Top Country Albums chart.
