Biography
Formed in North Carolina during 2006, Hour of 13 arose when multi-instrumentalist Chad Davis, responsible for songwriting along with guitar, bass, and drums, teamed with vocalist Philip Swanson to champion pure heavy metal and doom rooted in the foundational principles of Black Sabbath, a vision realized on their self-titled debut record. Issued near the close of 2007 via Shadow Kingdom Records, the album included select guest solos by engineer Corey Leonard and gradually earned underground acclaim among discerning metal listeners before appearing on Decibel magazine’s Top 25 metal albums ranking in 2008.
