Biography
The vibrant dance-rock outfit I Dont Know How but They Found Me, often abbreviated as iDKHOW, fuses new wave hooks, glam rock theatricality, and electro-funk rhythms over an indie pop foundation that channels 1970s and 1980s influences into the present day. Emerging mysteriously toward the end of the 2010s as a duo, the act issued its first full-length effort, Razzmatazz, in 2020 before shifting to a solo configuration by 2023 and delivering the follow-up album Gloom Division the next year.
Vocalist and bassist Dallon Weekes, previously a member of Panic! At the Disco, established the project in Salt Lake City during 2016 alongside drummer Ryan Seaman, keeping the endeavor under wraps at first. A handful of early performances in the Los Angeles region that fall gradually brought wider attention. Their inaugural single, "Modern Day Cain," surfaced in August 2017, succeeded one month afterward by "Choke." Fearless Records came aboard in August 2018, issuing the label's opening track "Do It All the Time," after which the 1981 EP landed in November and promptly claimed the top spot on the Billboard Heatseeker chart while reaching number 14 on the Billboard Rock Albums Chart. Twelve months later the seasonal release Christmas Drag appeared, spotlighting a rendition of Slade's "Merry Christmas Everybody." Two further singles, "Leave Me Alone" and "Razzmatazz," preceded the late-2020 arrival of the debut album Razzmatazz itself. Drawing from Bowie and Prince, the groove-oriented collection also yielded "New Invention" and "Lights Go Down," with promotion encompassing broadcast spots, festival engagements, and a joint headline run alongside Joywave. A deluxe edition later added previously unheard material such as a Cure cover alongside remixes, demos, and concert captures. Seaman's departure from Weekes in late 2023 left iDKHOW as a one-person venture. Now aligned with Concord Records, Weekes unveiled the singles "What Love?" and the Brit-pop-meets-glam "Gloomtown Brats," both featured on the 2024 sophomore LP Gloom Division.
