Biography
Drawing from the sounds of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Metallica, the Texas-based outfit Ignitor unleashes powerful waves of traditional metal rooted in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Established in Austin during 2003 by singer Erika Tandy along with guitarists Stuart Lawrence, formerly of Agony Column, and Beverly Barrington, plus bassist Brendon Bigelow and drummer Pat Doyle, Ignitor put out their initial six-song EP titled Take to the Sky in 2004. Shortly after, Barrington departed and Annah Moore joined on guitar. Their self-titled first album came out that same year on their own, leading to a contract with Cruz Del Sur Music for the follow-up record Road Of Bones in 2007. During 2007, Tandy and Moore exited while Barrington returned and Jason McMaster, known from Watchtower and Dangerous Toys, took over vocals. Their next album The Spider Queen appeared in 2009, with Year of the Metal Tiger released through MVD Entertainment in 2012.
