Isabel LaRosa crafts a sleek strain of pop laced with slinky sensuality and faint eerie undercurrents, positioning her sound in the gap between Billie Eilish and the Weeknd. Early tracks such as the ominous “Haunted” and “I’m Yours” drifted through shadowy textures that drew an online audience, yet her 2024 single “Favorite” signaled a shift toward punchier dance-pop rhythms and more insistent melodic hooks.

Born to a Cuban mother and an American father, she grew up immersed in music within her Annapolis, Maryland home. Frequent performances alongside guitarist brother Thomas and their saxophonist father sparked an early songwriting alliance between the siblings that began during their grade-school and middle-school years. Under the name LaRosa, the pair issued digital releases that failed to connect with listeners.

Once the COVID-19 pandemic struck shortly after Isabel entered high school, she and Thomas used the lockdown period to finish material issued under their individual names while continuing to shape the music together. Isabel began uploading tracks to social platforms in early 2021. That September she unveiled “16 Candles,” which was quickly followed by the singles “Closer” and “GAMEBOY.” After inking a deal with Slumbo Labs/RCA in February 2022, she issued “Therapy” and “Haunted,” the latter marking her first track to reach a substantial listenership. It appeared on the June debut EP I’m Watching You and coincided with Ari Abdul’s Fallen Angel EP, which contained three LaRosa co-writes.

October 2022 brought the even larger viral success of “I’m Yours,” paving the way for the March 2023 EP You Fear the God That Loves You; before year’s end she also dropped the singles “Eyes Don’t Lie” and “Older.” The Favorite EP surfaced in early 2024.
