Janne Schra, a Dutch soulful vocalist, shapes eclectic pop that draws from jazz, country, and R&B. She entered the world in Laren, the Netherlands, in 1981. Initial public notice arrived through her membership in the jazz-pop ensemble Room Eleven, whose two highly successful albums were 2006’s Six White Russians & a Pink Pussycat and 2008’s Mmm...Gumbo?. After Room Eleven disbanded in 2009, Schra launched a solo path. Her debut solo release, India Lima Oscar Victor Echo You, appeared in 2011 under the pseudonym Schradinova. Around the same period she joined forces with Kraak & Smaak, Dayna Kurtz, Benjamin Herman, and numerous other artists. In 2013 she issued her first proper self-titled solo album, the eponymously titled Janna Schra, which contained the duet “Eyes on the Prize” with guitarist M. Ward. The following year she joined guitarist Robin Nolan and his trio for a gypsy jazz-influenced album. Produced by Torre Florim, her fifth studio album, PONZO, was scheduled for release in 2015.
