Jargon brought their moody, laid-back pop riffs to a base in San Francisco, where the band’s indie origins drew critical classification as alternative rock even though mainstream appeal had never been the goal. Boiled Lobster Records released the group’s first full-length album, a self-titled effort, in 1998. Shortly afterward Rich on drums and Jason on guitar both left, so that only Tim, who sang and played guitar, and Trevor on bass remained from the original lineup.
