Hailing originally from Miami, the Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Jenevieve blends a dreamy style of R&B with influences drawn from artists such as Sade, Prince, and the Beatles. Her initial release, "Medallion," came out in the beginning of 2020 and generated considerable attention, though the subsequent track "Baby Powder" achieved notable streaming success. The full-length debut, Division, was released in 2021, followed by additional songs including "Love Quotes" the next year.

Jenevieve grew up in Miami amid a dance background, as both her mother and grandmother performed as ballet dancers. Her own musical influences spanned R&B and soul while also encompassing pop figures like Michael Jackson and Prince. After moving to Los Angeles, she connected with producer Jean Benz, who would become a frequent collaborator. In February 2020 she put out her debut official single, the hypnotic "Medallion," and then released "Baby Powder," which gained traction through streaming. Under the Joyface label, an imprint connected to Interscope, she added the 2021 songs "Eternal" and "Midnight Charm" to her output. Both appeared on her album Division from that year. A deluxe version followed in 2022 including remixes with 2 Chainz and Ghostface Killah. Shortly after came "2NLuv," which features Benziboy, along with "Love Quotes."
