Born August 19, 1967, in Hoboken, New Jersey, John Taglieri spent his formative years in North Bergen and built a multifaceted career as a New Jersey-based multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, sideman, bandleader, solo artist, producer, recording engineer, and record label owner. Guitar lessons began at age five, after which he added drums, piano, bass guitar, and trumpet to his skills and turned professional in both recording and performance by fifteen. A degree in audio engineering from the Center for the Media Arts in New York City preceded several years performing with New Jersey bands. In 1999 Taglieri founded Leap Dog Music, an independent label and publishing company, and issued his first solo album, Leap of Faith, the start of a string of largely acoustic solo projects released on his own Leap Dog imprint. Subsequent releases include Half & Half (2003), NOW (2005, the year he launched his full-service studio Dawg Pound Studios), Wide Awake & Dreaming (2007), the EP Everything We Are (2008), Lives and Lives, Vol. 2 (a conceptual series of EPs and books issued in 2009), and the six-song EPs Lucky #9 (2012), Southern Paradise (2013), and Days Like These (2014). The band TAG was formed by Taglieri in 2010, and that same year the group released its full-length album Foreward on Leap Dog Records.
