Hailing from Derry in Northern Ireland, Keith Harkin performs as both a vocalist in the male ensemble Celtic Thunder and a solo artist whose work draws on soulful folk and rock traditions. He started singing near the age of four. Relocating to London in 2005, he focused on building careers in music and acting. Ahead of his Celtic Thunder tenure, he appeared at multiple British music festivals and took the lead part in the 2006 BBC drama Dha Theanga, to which he also supplied original music. An avid surfer, Harkin draws frequent comparisons to the likewise ocean-minded American musician Jack Johnson. His first solo album arrived in 2012 under his own name, blending self-penned material with reinterpretations and including a duet with Colbie Caillat on Van Morrison’s “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You.” Two years later he issued the follow-up On Mercy Street, an entirely self-written collection shaped by California folk-rock textures and produced by Andy Wright and Gavin Goldberg. Later in 2016 came the seasonal release Nollaig. In late 2017 he revealed plans for an intimate live concert package titled In the Round, slated for issue on both CD and DVD the next year.
