Ireland's Celtic Tenors emerged as a classical crossover trio whose repertoire spans opera, classical works, traditional Celtic material, folk, and pop. Although they took their current name upon signing with EMI in 2000, the ensemble traces its roots to an earlier vocal group known as the Three Irish Tenors, which appeared on RTE's Theatre Nights broadcast during the mid-'90s. The rebranded Celtic Tenors—still including original members Niall Morris and James Nelson, now joined by Matthew Gilsenan in place of former Three Irish Tenors singer Paul Hennessy—issued their self-titled debut on EMI Classics that same year. A string of further releases quickly followed, among them the 2002 album So Strong, 2003's Irish Album, 2005's We Are Not Islands, 2006's Remember Me, and the concert DVD Celtic Tenors: Live in Concert, also from 2006. Morris departed around 2007, with Daryl Simpson stepping in as his replacement. The revised lineup of Nelson, Gilsenan, and Simpson resurfaced in 2009 on Compass Records with the Americana-themed album Hard Times. Their sixth studio effort, Feels Like Home, came out on Telarc in 2011. Two years later the trio offered its first seasonal collection, Christmas, before returning with Timeless in 2015.
