Biography
Khaid, a Nigerian singer and rapper, crafts an ethereal fusion of Afrobeats and trap sounds. Discovered at seventeen in 2022 by Sydney Talker, the founder of Neville Records, the young artist promptly joined the label’s roster. He has issued two EPs, the second being 2023’s Emotions, which spawned the successful tracks “Jolie” and “Annabella.”
Sulaimon Shekoni Solomon entered the world on December 10, 2004, and spent his childhood in Lagos State’s Shibiri-Ojo district with his nine siblings. As he launched his recording efforts, Khaid took a job as a roadside mechanic to contribute to the household. An internet clip of his freestyling drew the notice of influential label mogul Sydney Talker, who brought him aboard the Neville imprint in early 2022. “With You,” his debut single, entered Nigeria’s Top 50 and later featured on the Diversity EP, which arrived before year’s end. Momentum built sharply in 2023 when Khaid issued “Jolie,” a sun-drenched love song that climbed to number seven on the Nigerian pop chart. Months afterward came the one-off collaboration “Carry Me Go” with Boy Spyce, which registered on both the U.K. and U.S. charts. From his follow-up EP Emotions he scored a number-one Afropop hit in Nigeria with “Annabella,” then released the single “Forever” in September of the same year.
