Biography
The female trio Tabitha Duncan, Athena Cage, and LaVonn Battle established Kut Klose in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, where they focus on a bold style of urban R&B pop anchored by their fluid vocal blends. Their first record, Surrender, marked the second release on Keith Sweat’s Keia Records imprint, following Silk’s platinum-selling debut, and blended pop elements with hip-hop rhythms along with straightforward yet impactful words—as Battle describes it: ‘A little hip-hop, a little rhythm and blues, a little soulful and a little youthful.’ The collection featured slow numbers including ‘I Like’ and ‘Giving You My Love’ as well as the New Jill Swing track ‘Don’t Change’, while the lead single ‘Get Up On It’ appeared as a collaboration with Sweat. Sweat, Eric McCaine from Entouch, and the trio handled the songwriting and production duties, with sessions taking place at the Sweat Shop, the advanced facility constructed by Sweat within his Atlanta residence.
