Biography
In 2018, Nashville gospel vocalist Kyla Jade advanced to the finals of season 14 on the competitive singing series The Voice. A native of Topeka, Kansas, she began performing in church gospel choirs during childhood and, after completing college, became a member of the Nashville Super Choir on BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel. She had previously auditioned as a backing singer for American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson, who emerged as one of her strongest advocates. Performing Aretha Franklin’s “See Saw” during the blind auditions earned her a spot on Blake Shelton’s team. Over the course of the season she delivered Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me,” the Beatles’ “Let It Be,” “With a Little Help from My Friends,” and “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman. Jade reached the finale yet placed third, behind Britton Buchanan and winner Brynn Cartelli. Following the broadcast, the tracks she performed were assembled into the release Kyla Jade: The Complete Season 14 Collection.
