Biography
Despite a forced rebranding from Ladyfinger to Ladyfinger (ne)—with the added suffix denoting Nebraska, the band's home state—prompted by copyright concerns, vocalist and guitarist Chris Machmuller, previously of Omaha's Bleeders for Treats, along with bassist Ethan Jones, formerly of the Faint, guitarist Jamie Massey of Race for Titles, and drummer Pat Oakes, whose credits include Mayday and Solid Jackson, persisted with their abrasive rock style shaped by Jesus Lizard, Motörhead, and Drive Like Jehu. In 2006 the quartet issued its first full-length, Heavy Hands, through Saddle Creek, marking an unexpected move for the imprint long associated with indie rock.
