Laundry Day emerged as a productive bedroom pop and alternative boy band in New York City after the five members convened in 2017 during their initial year at the Beacon School in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen district. Etai Abramovich, Henry Pearl, Henry Weingartner, Jude Ciulla, and Sawyer Nunes quickly forged a creative alliance under the influence of Tyler, The Creator and Brockhampton. Within that same calendar year the quintet issued their first two full-length projects, Trumpet Boy and Keep It Right, along with the Light Up Shoes EP, all produced in D.I.Y. fashion. The following year brought their debut headlining tour, the album Homesick, the EP Light Up Shoes 2, and several million streams. In 2021 the group signed with Warner Records and unveiled the singles “Connect 5” and “Worry Bout Yourself.” Their first release to receive major-label distribution, We Switched Bodies, appeared in 2022.

A year later they returned independently with the twenty-six-track set Younger Than I Was Before, whose runtime stretched to roughly an hour and incorporated numerous interstitial skits. Early 2024 saw the arrival of an Audiotree Live session, after which the band issued the pop-punky single “Why is everyone a DJ?,” preserving the lighthearted tone established across their catalog.
