Biography
Having previously served as frontwoman for the German electro-punk band Deine Jugend, Laura Carbone has shaped a solo sound that fuses 1990s elements drawn from the Riot Grrrl movement, the Breeders, and PJ Harvey together with the dramatic 1980s atmosphere evoked by Chris Isaak and Sisters of Mercy. Once Deine Jugend disbanded, she kept up her creative partnership with one-time bandmate Tim Bonassis, whose résumé also includes the metal acts Pyogenesis and Liquido. Stigmatized, her first EP, appeared in 2013. To finance her debut full-length project, Carbone enlisted PledgeMusic; the resulting album Sirens reached European listeners by the close of 2015 and arrived in the U.S. in the first months of the year after that.
