Biography
In 2006 the French underground hip-hop supergroup Le Klub des 7 assembled, drawing together some of the scene’s most distinctive and rule-breaking rappers. The roster united Fuzati and DJ Detect from Klub des Loosers, Cyanure and Fredy K from ATK, James Delleck and Le Jouage from Gravité Zéro, and Svinkels’ Gérard Baste. The collective delivered a widely praised self-titled album that showcased an eclectic mix of styles and flows, among them Fuzati’s “Le Parapluie” and the irresistible “La Réunion Secrète,” which featured every rapper on the project. Their approach recalled TTC’s early recordings; indeed, several members had already joined forces with that group’s Teki Latex, Para One, and Tacteel for the 2003 album L’Atelier, Buffet des Anciens Élèves. Although Fredy K died in a motorcycle accident in 2007, anticipation for further group and solo work from the remaining members stayed strong after Le Klub des 7’s initial release.
