Biography
Leifur James blends experimental production techniques with conventional songwriting approaches, employing both programmed elements and live playing. This London-based multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter created the meditative, intricately layered albums A Louder Silence (2018) and Angel in Disguise (2020) on the Night Time Stories label.
Music entered James’s life early, beginning with cello and piano studies before shifting toward electronic music production. He joined the LateNightTales offshoot Night Time Stories and debuted on the label in October 2018 with A Louder Silence, which received airplay from outlets including KCRW and BBC Radio 6 (notably Gilles Peterson) along with praise across multiple publications. In 2019 a collection of remixes by FaltyDL, Auntie Flo, and Coby Sey appeared, accompanied by the standalone track “Wurlitzer.” Early the following year he released “Wise Old Man” and “AAID,” then issued his second LP, Angel in Disguise, that April.
