Leo Maslíah, a skilled Uruguayan musician and author, first appeared onstage in 1974. He performed classical pieces and sang with Juan Peyroux and Luis Trochón in 1978, then soon joined Brussels’ SIMC festival to present his electric-acoustic work “Llanto.” Following the 1987 album Buscado Vivo, he issued the live recording Maslíah Manzitti, captured in Buenos Aires on March 25 and April 1, 1995. He also wrote and composed music for the radio program Radar together with Silvana Lombardini and César Martínez. In 1994 the pianist, composer, and arranger earned a nomination from the Argentinean Konex foundation as one of the country’s most gifted local artists. Taddei-Maslíah appeared in 1997, followed by Maslíah Existe and then 2000’s Eslabones, issued by New York-based Big World Music. That same year Leo Maslíah played a leading part in the film Que Absurdo Es Haber Crecido while creating its soundtrack.
