Biography
The Uruguayan rock band El Cuarteto de Nos originated with brothers Roberto and Ricardo Musso on guitars and vocals alongside bassist Nicolas Tavella and drummer Alavaro Pintos. Their self-titled debut album arrived in 1984 and built a following in the local underground scene through performances that incorporated choreography and aluminum costumes. Two further releases emerged during the 1980s: Soy una Arveja in 1986 and Emilio Garcia in 1988. Observers singled out the lyrics for their sharp irreverence, which occasionally turned erotic. Otra Navidad en las Trincheras surfaced in 1994 and ranked among the country’s strongest-selling albums of the decade. The track “El Día Que Artigas Se Emborracho,” featured on 1996’s El Tren Bala, drew censorship for insulting Jose Artigas, Uruguay’s most revered patriot. Raro followed in 2006, produced by Bajofondo Tango Club’s Juan Campodónico. Its opening single “Yendo a la Casa de Damian” earned a nomination at the 2007 Latin Grammy Awards.
