Around the mid-1990s the pop/rock ensemble Lili Fatale assembled in Montreal, with Nathalie Courchesne handling lead vocals, Richard Valmont Binette also on board, and Uranian Valceanu supplying both vocals and guitar. Their self-titled debut arrived in 1998 via Sony Records, a smoothly integrated blend of pop, new wave, and ska whose polished craft secured Lili Fatale more than half a dozen ADISQ nominations. European touring followed, after which the group turned to its sophomore project, Panavision, released in 2000. Among the tracks featured across both albums are “Candy,” “Ange De Ville,” “Proche Chaos,” “Elephant Blanc,” and “La Mare Aux Oublis.”
