Distinguished from a youthful French vocalist who shares her name, Texas native Lina delivers neo-soul with an operatic timbre, merging present-day R&B textures with the sonic palette and sampled passages of vintage swing and vocal jazz. Her debut full-length release, the bold Stranger on Earth, appeared in 2001 and drew its title from her reading of a Dinah Washington classic, generating the singular single “Playa No More.”
