Biography
Emerging initially as a German/Swedish industrial metal super duo built around Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann and Hypocrisy/PAIN multi-instrumentalist Peter Tägtgren, the Lindemann project took shape in 2015 once the longtime friends honored a pledge they had made two years earlier to join forces on a musical endeavor. The pair drew from a gritty blend of goth, dance, and electro-metal to unveil the single "Praise Abort" early that year, then issued their debut studio album Skills in Pills that summer, an effort on which Till delivered his vocals in English rather than the approach associated with Rammstein. After stepping away from the studio for several years—Tägtgren concentrating on production work while Till toured with Rammstein and ultimately recorded and released the latter band’s long-awaited self-titled seventh album, their first in a decade, in 2019—the two reconvened only months later for Lindemann’s second full-length, F&M (“Frau & Mann” or “woman and man” in German). That collection, which featured the single “Steh Auf” (“Stand Up”), combined previously unreleased material with selections drawn from Till’s dark stage adaptation of Hansel und Gretel and returned the vocalist to his native German, in contrast to the English lyrics of Skills in Pills. The collaboration between Tägtgren and Lindemann concluded in 2020, after which the project continued as a solo vehicle for its namesake.
