Biography
L.S. Dunes emerged as a post-hardcore supergroup whose defiant, anthemic sound draws on punk energy. Their first album, Past Lives, appeared in 2022.
The project began in 2020 and unites vocalist Anthony Green of Circa Survive, Saosin, and the Sound of Animals Fighting; guitarist Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance; guitarist Travis Stever of Coheed and Cambria; bassist Tim Payne; and drummer Tucker Rule, both from Thursday. The concept first took shape when Payne and Rule, still in Thursday, prepared material for a holiday livestream that year. They laid down numerous instrumental tracks before recruiting Green, who had been seeking a new collaborative venture, to complete the lineup.
The band played its first show at Riot Fest in Chicago’s Douglass Park during September 2022. Additional concerts followed, along with the singles “2022,” “Permanent Rebellion,” and “Bombsquad,” the last of which drew inspiration from the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol. In November 2022 they issued their debut full-length, Past Lives, produced by Will Yip.
