LSG comprises the urban R&B luminaries Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill, who have amassed thirty R&B chart-toppers and more than thirty million albums sold across their individual careers. The idea for this high-profile side venture originated with a phone call from Sweat to Levert, in which he floated the notion of cutting a full-length project alongside their longtime associate Johnny Gill. Assembling an array of elite producers and featured artists that matched the trio’s stature, LSG recruited Sean "Puffy" Combs and Jermaine Dupri plus the rappers LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes and MC Lyte to shape their 1997 debut, Levert.Sweat.Gill. Powered by the Top Five single “My Body,” the set quickly earned platinum certification.
