Biography
Born as one of ten children into a musically oriented household hailing from Tlacotepec in Guerrero, México, Latin pop singer Luz Rios spent her childhood in Cuernavaca within the state of Morelos. That region lent its name to Morelos Show, the family quintet in which a teenage Rios handled drums and lead vocals with four siblings. By that time Rios and her relatives had relocated to the Ontario, CA region, where the ensemble became a regular presence on the nightclub circuit. After two years in the group, she secured her siblings’ consent to launch a solo career, issuing the 1999 debut Ayer, Hoy y Siempre, a set of pop ballads. Once finances allowed, Rios studied with renowned vocal coach Seth Riggs, whose past clients include Stevie Wonder, Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill, and Julio Iglesias. Later projects found her exploring pop on 2002’s De Mi Corazon, norteño music on the self-titled 2006 album Luz Rios, and pop/rock with 2008’s Aire.
