Biography
Maliibu N Helene pair the streetwise rapper Maliibu Miitch with the classically trained vocalist Helene Britany, and the duo accurately label their blend of R&B, hip-hop, and dance music “urban pop.” Maliibu hails from the South Bronx and Helene from California; each had already become an admirer of the other’s work while both operated in the Los Angeles scene. Their conversations initially revolved around industry gossip and professional contacts, yet in 2014 the two elected to record together and began circulating a demo. Island Records extended a contract that same year, leading to the 2015 release of the singles “Figure 8,” produced by DJ Mustard, and “Starin’ at It,” produced by Dem Jointz.
